Linebacker/Safety

Where do you play college football?

Troy University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

I visited a mental and behavioral health hospital in Mississippi. I played catch with some of the children who thought I was like a superhero. Afterwards, I signed pictures and footballs for them to have. I feel very blessed to be in the position that I’m in because some people fail to realize how fortunate they are. Kids like that will die to be in my shoes.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

I had two classes actually that was my hardest classes ever. The classes were Business Calculus and Intermediate Accounting I. It made me consider if Accounting was really for me.

Where are you from?

Rosedale, MS

Who is your role model, and why?

Brian Dawkins is my role model. He attacked every day like it was his last.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Growing up, I played baseball and ran track. I ever played organized basketball, but I played a good bit of that also.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I was actually one of the top running backs in the state of Mississippi in high school. I had opportunities to play that position, but I chose to stay on the defensive side. I played some defensive end, wide receiver, and free safety.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I feel as my speed separates me from others. I am built more like a safety but can play linebacker just as good. I am the type of guy that will always work harder than the next man. That is my way of gaining and keeping my edge.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for tendencies that will help me stay ahead of the game. I will observe my opponent to the point where I know his strengths and weaknesses. I look for their top run and pass plays based of down and distance.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Wisconsin T.J. Watt had to be the toughest that I’ve ever. He was sound, scrappy, and physical.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I would compare myself to Ryan Shazier. He is fast, smart, and a great tackler. His speed is one of his biggest attributes which makes him outstanding linebacker.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle I had was balancing those accounting classes to make sure that I will be eligible for the 2016 season.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I wear a certain ring combination to the football field. I get taped with all my jewelry on. Then I will do personal stretches by my locker until it is time for us to go out.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is speed. The ability to read and react.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is pad level.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

My name is William Lloyd. I’m from a small town north of Mississippi. Ever since I was born, I had to grind for every little thing. My family wasn’t financially stable. My mom practically raise me my whole life by herself. She had to teach me things that my father should’ve taught me. I was angry at the world when I was kid because I couldn’t understand why life had to be this complicated. I found my way to a football field where my life started to change. I started playing ball every day after school. Soon after, I gain a passion for the game. I started to take football serious. Soon after I started to take it serious, I became very good at it. My mom mean everything to me. I play the game for her. It just puts a smile on my face hearing her in the stands. Even though sometimes she be the loudest person in the stands, I be having to turn around and tell her to sit down. One day she was diagnosed with gangrene and had to get her leg amputated. I was destroyed! I wanted to stop playing ball to make sure she well taken care of. At the time she was all I had. She told me to never give up on my dreams and that she will be okay. Since then every snap was for her. She is the reason that I grind. She has been my backbone since day one. She is who I do it for. I want to make a way for her. To be able to take care of my family. She gave me her last ever since I was born. I want to be able to give the same in return. She has been the motivation I needed to be successful. The love I have for the game of football is unreal. I play for my family. I play for my fans. All I need is an opportunity to show that I am capable of achieving anything if I put my mind to it. I refused to get outworked and I think I will make the organization as a whole proud

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

My favorite team growing up was the Seattle Seahawks. Shaun Alexander was my favorite player back then and I just enjoyed watching them do work.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?
