Vikings first round picks come up huge in win yesterday against Buccaneers

teddyThe Minnesota Vikings are a young football team, and yesterday two of their first round draft picks were huge.  Anthony Barr was looking like he was going to be the GOAT on the field after he allowed a touchdown for the Buccaneers to put the game in overtime, but that was not the case because Anthony Barr came up big time.

Barr stripped tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and returned the fumble 27 yards for a touchdown to snag the 19-13 victory over the Bucs on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.

“I gave one up on the other end minutes before that [game-winning touchdown],” Barr said. “So, I was happy I was able to make it up to those guys because I felt like I let them down a little bit.”

Barr finished second with eight tackles and also recorded his third sack this season. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said he was initially upset on the play because Barr was out of position and allowed the catch on the first play in overtime.

He was not the only rookie that shined, Jerrick McKinnon had 80 yards on the ground and Teddy Bridgewater was a leader.

Bridgewater came out on the other side with his second NFL victory, and an effort that showed some steps forward, albeit against the worst defense in the NFL. He completed 24 of 42 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown, directing the Vikings to a game-tying score that set up Anthony Barr’s decisive fumble return for a TD in overtime. In the process, Bridgewater benefited from a supporting cast that did more to help him out than he has had in weeks; he was pressured on only 23.3 percent of his dropbacks
