Sorry Terrelle Pryor, you are FIRED; Mr. McGloin you are the starter again

While Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Matt McGloin is his quarterback for the moment, he would not commit to the undrafted rookie free agent over previous starter Terrelle Pryor for the season’s final four games.

“I think we’re going to continue to play that out,” Allen said in his media conference Friday, following Thursday’s 31-24 loss at the Dallas Cowboys.

“I don’t think [McGloin’s] done anything to play himself out of that position. I think as Terrelle gets more and more healthy, to be able to see him more involved in the offense, is something that we’ll continue to look at. I think Matt has gone in and handled himself pretty well. Really, in every game that he’s been the starting quarterback, we’ve had an opportunity to win those football games. We’ve had leads in the fourth quarter of games; we just haven’t been able to pull them out.”

Pryor electrified the offense, and the fan base, with his play early on. His 93-yard touchdown run against thePittsburgh Steelers set a franchise record but a sprained right knee robbed him of his greatest strength.

He has thrown eight interceptions since his last touchdown and was benched after saying he had a sprained MCL in a loss at the New York Giants on Nov. 10. Pryor has thrown for 1,559 yards while completing 132 of 224 passes (58.9 percent) for five touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 69.0 passer rating in eight games. He has also rushed for 504 yards in averaging 7.4 yards per attempt.

McGloin, meanwhile, has started the past three games, beating the Houston Texans before losing leads, and games, to the Tennessee Titans and Cowboys. Including a relief appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles, McGloin has thrown for 799 yards on 62-of-109 passing (56.9 percent) with four TDs and two interceptions for a 84.6 rating.
