Seattle Seahawks signed Marcus Trufant to a one day deal; Trufant retires a Hawk

Marcus Trufant always will be a Seahawk now. The longtime Seattle cornerback and Tacoma native officially retired as a Seahawk Thursday. Trufant signed a one-day contract with the Seahawks so he could retire as part of the team where he spent his entire NFL career.

“I’m not sad,” Trufant said. “It’s just a chapter that’s closing. This is a happy time. I’m excited to see what comes next.”

Trufant held a news conference Thursday in front of  current Seahawks players Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, along with former Seahawks Walter Jones and Roy Lewis.

In his 10 seasons with Seattle, Trufant posted 638 tackles (557 solo) to rank 10th all-time in Seahawks history. His 21 interceptions rank fifth all-time in team history.
