Sammy Watkins becomes first offensive player in Bills history to win Rookie of the Month
Today Sammy Watkins was named rookie of the month by the NFL. The Bills traded up several spots to land Sammy Watkins this year and it has paid off big time for the Bills. The team is 5-3 going into their bye week this week, and their schedule favors them. If they can keep getting Watkins the ball it could be fun to watch. According to Mike Rodak Watkins became the first Bills offensive player to win the award.
Watkins caught 21 passes for 393 yards and three touchdowns over the past month. It’s a marked improvement from his September performance, when he had 17 catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
He becomes the first player in Bills history to win the NFL’s offensive rookie of the month award. Last season, linebacker Kiko Alonso won the NFL’s defensive rookie of the month honors for September.
