Ryan Fitzpatrick is officially a free agent; I would take him as a back-up
Friday has come and went, and now Ryan Fitzpatrick the former Harvard grad is a free agent. His contract voided on Friday after the Jets decided not to re-sign him.
New York will have to pay Fitzpatrick $5 million of the $10 million he was set to be paid in 2017 as part of the signing bonus portion of his contract.
Fitzpatrick, 34, threw 12 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions en route to leading New York to a 3-8 record in 11 starts this past season. That came on the heels of a career-best 2015 performance that saw him throw 31 touchdowns and just 15 interceptions.
I would take Fitz-Magic on my team, he was a beast for the Bills and in 2015 with the Jets. Would you take him as a back-up? I highly doubt he will be starting anytime soon, but as a back-up he is a great addition.
