What is your name?

  • Ryan Fernandez.

Where do you play College Football?

  • Becker College.

What position do you play?

  • Wide Receiver.

What is your height/weight?

  • Height: 5’9”   Weight: 170lbs.

Did you play any other sports growing up? If so, what were they?

  • I grew up playing Hockey for a number of years before I ever touched a foot on the football field.

Who is the toughest player you have competed against in College?

  • Davin Collins. He was actually my teammate my freshman and sophomore year and every time we lined up against each other it was going to be a dog fight. He really pushed me to be great and I have all the respect in the world for him.

Are you listening to music before a game? If so, what?

  • I’m 100% listening to music before a game and it could be anywhere between Logic or Kevin Gates.

Do you have any superstitions before a game? If so, what are they?

  • Before every game in the locker room and on the field, I have to say a little prayer.

Who is your role model & why?

  • My role model has to be my dad because he has always been my number 1 fan and supported every decision I’ve made in my life and has pushed me to be the man I am today. I owe him the world.

While in College, what has been your favorite & least favorite class?

  • Favorite: Sports Psychology       Least Favorite: Statistics

Outside of Football, what has been your favorite experience while in College?

  • I’ve met a lot of different people, being from Florida I only knew people from Florida. Being up in Massachusetts I’ve met people from Mass, Rhode Island, Cali, Arizona, New York, Connecticut, Georgia and Maine.

Growing up, who was your favorite NFL Team & NFL player, & why?

  • My favorite team growing up was the hometown team the Miami Dolphins and my favorite player has to be Jarvis Landry. I love how Jarvis plays with so much passion and he just is a work horse. I try to model my game after him.

If you could be in any movie of your choice, what would it be & what character would you play? 

  • Like Mike and I would be Calvin Cambridge

If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who are they? 

  • Steve Furtick, Phora and Logic

If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose & why?

  • MLK Jr. because he played a huge part in how the world is today and he tried making the world a better place, helping us remember we are all equal.

Who is your favorite superhero & why?

  • Spider-Man because he was a hero and also an average person. His powers are dope as well.

What is your definition of hard work?

  • Working when no one is watching. Working to be great not just an average player. Looking in the mirror knowing that you really gave it all you had.

What is the most unexpected lesson you learned while in College?

  • I really learned that you should always be ready so you don’t have to get ready. That applies from the field all the way to the classroom for me.

What is something you wish you could go back & tell yourself as a High School Freshman?

  • Let Go and Let God.

Why do you wear #86?

  • #86 was given me by my coaches and it was my first collegiate number so with just that it meant something to me. With that being said I want to make that number big in my school history.

What is the best part of your hometown, Miami, FL?

  • The best part of my hometown has to be the weather. Miami weather is sunny and warm basically all year round.

Who do you choose, Jordan or LeBron?

  • LeBron.

Are you a PS4 or Xbox One guy? What games are you playing right now?

  • Xbox One, Fortnite and Madden.

What has been your most memorable moment as a student-athlete?

  • Being able to achieve a 3.58 GPA while being in season.

Are you binge watching anything on Netflix or Hulu right now?

  • Greys Anatomy.

If you had one free hour each day, how would you choose to use it?

  • I would hang out with my brothers Edwin and Nick because every time I’m back at home they keep me humble and anything I’m stressing about they keep me grounded.

You’re a Sports Management major, what made you pursue that subject?

  • I wanted to stay in the field of sports and just having a chance to learn about the business side is something I find very interesting.

If you could catch a TD to one NFL QB, past or present, who would it be & why?

  • Tom Brady because he will go down as one the best quarterbacks to play the game.

If you could give NFL scouts three words to describe the type of man they are getting in Ryan Fernandez, what would they be?

  • Hard-Worker. Consistent. Dependable.
