Richard Sherman makes sure he did not give the Niners any bulletin board material

Today Seattle Seahawks shut-down corner Richard Sherman made sure when talking to the Seattle media he didn’t give the Niners any ammo to use against them. He was a class act in the interview and seem to still be a smart Butt too. I love Richard Sherman, the guy just plays. The last time the Niners and Hawks met Sherman held Anquan Boldin to one catch. Since that performance Boldin has been playing like an MVP. Here was his total interview, courtesy of SFGate.com:

(On Seattle’s 12th Man being at Candlestick Park…) “Yeah I’m sure they’re going to make it. I heard that they’re going to fly a banner or something over the game. That’s pretty funny.”

(On if he chooses his word carefully when talking about the 49ers…) “I always choose my words carefully, which makes them all the better. I mean it is what it is, it’s just another week, another game to be played.”

(On 49ers rivalry as a team…) “I mean I feel like they feel that way. We just go out and play our game. Every week is a championship week, we just go out and play our ball game, execute, and make a great game plan. Our coaches do a great job scouting and we go out there and worry about what we have to do. We don’t worry about anything else.”

(On how have the 49ers changed when Colin Kaepernick is their quarterback than when Alex Smith was the quarterback…) “Well I think they ran a little more of the read option/zone kind of stuff with Colin Kaepernick. I think with Alex they ran a little bit of it, but they just ran the West Coast offense where they would dink and dunk and take a shot every now and then. I guess they were a little more conservative with Alex Smith, and with Colin Kaepernick they throw it down the field a little more, he takes a few more risks, he runs the ball a little better than Alex did, so it’s a little different in that respect.”

(On Michael Crabtree’s impact to the 49er’s offense…) “That’s some familiarity there with Colin Kaepernick. Those guys had a great rapport last year and made a lot of big plays down the stretch in some big games. So I think that’s a big weapon for him, a big time guy that he’s use to, and it’s a big addition for them.”

(On if he’ll lock up on Aquan Boldin like he did last year now that Michael Crabtree is back…) “I don’t think it makes a difference in that respect.”

(On if he prefers to play quarterbacks that throws deep down the field…) “I would. I would prefer to face a quarterback who throws it down the field a little more because it gives you more opportunities to get the chance to go after the ball.”

(On how he manages staying calm for big games…) “Nothing changes for us. It doesn’t get more intense. Like I said last week, there’s no such thing as a big game. Our field is the same size, nothing has changed. The month has changed, but guys are going out there and executing. We’re trying to win one game at a time, 1-0. We’re focused on San Francisco this week and doing everything that we can to prepare for them and making sure that we’re totally prepared when we get out there in Candlestick and go out there and execute. Next week we’ll worry about what happens the next week.”

(On what makes the Seahawks effective against top NFC teams…) “I guess I couldn’t answer that. We just play our game. We just go out there and play to the best of our abilities and let the chips fall where they may. We go out there and man up stand up and see what happens. A lot of our guys are playing at a high level. Russell Wilson played one heck of a game last week, our defensive line played a good game, our secondary held up, our linebackers did a great job covering, and I think it was a full ball game by all three phases of our football team and that’s what allowed us to play at a high level last week, but every game is different. Every game is a different battle.

(On if winning this game and clinching the division against a team that’s won it two years in a row makes statement…) “I don’t know. I’m sure somebody will write a story about it if we win. I don’t think it’s something that we’re concerned about or something that we think about, we just go out there and try to win a game at a time. We don’t really worry about the story lines or this that and the other, owe just take it one game at a time. After all the dust is settled we’ll see what happens.”

(On Michael Bennett’s touchdown dance against the Saints…) “I thought he was going to get charged with sexual harassment. I thought they were going to throw a flag and this is going to be the most hilarious flag ever, and they just held it. I was really waiting for it though. Then you have Byron Maxwell jumping on his back. Coach was like when you see somebody doing that just stay away from him for a couple of seconds. Let him get that out.”

(On if he believes that Wilson is a good MVP candidate…) “I do, I do. I think of him as a leading MVP candidate. If he’s not up there with the Peyton’s and the Tom Brady’s and all of those guys. I don’t know what you have to do to be there because within our offense he’s done just about everything you can do to be an MVP candidate. When you have a running back like Marshawn Lynch you’re probably not going to throw the ball 40 to 50 times a game. You have to hand it to him some and feed the beast as they say in Seattle. But he’s been very efficient at home in a way, we’ve won most of the games that we’ve played, I think he has the best winning percentage of anybody out there playing right now so at the end of the day they say it’s about wins.”
