Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

The coolest thing I’ve done off the field was assist with the Special Olympics of New Jersey Summer Games at The College of New Jersey.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Econometrics

Where are you from?

East Stroudsburg, PA

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my father because he is the hardest working, most selfless person I know.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Wrestling, baseball, and soccer

Did you play any other positions in football?

Linebacker

At your position, what separates you from others?

What separates me from others at my position is my catching ability, intelligence, violence, and finish.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When I break down film I first look to see how the opponent aligns to formations similar to our own. Then I look for what techniques are used by which players when taking on different types of blocks. This gives me a good idea on what to expect from each player I may go up against during the game. I also key in on various pre-snap indicators that may give away pressures.

Sam BergenIf you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I would compare myself to John Kuhn because he is a smart, tenacious blocker who is also a versatile offensive threat.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome were back-to-back ACL tears in high school. I overcame it through hard work, sacrifice, and support from my family and friends. Above all else, I was driven to return to the game I love. 

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

My pre-game ritual is listening to music.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is my versatility.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is trying to run through defenders when I have the ball, instead of making them miss. 

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I’m a worker and I’m ready to go to work for you. I’ve proven myself as an effective run blocker and receiver against the best competition in the country. My ability to master a pro-style offense, as I did at Rutgers, has greatly prepared me for a smooth transition into any professional system. Also, I’ve played on a variety of special teams throughout my career, which adds to my value.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

Growing up, my favorite player was Brian Urlacher and my favorite team was the New York Giants.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Warren Buffett, and Chris Farley

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

A new car
