The University of Indianapolis (IN)

Where are you from?

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my father simply because of who the man he is and how he raised my older brother and I; he treats my mother like a queen and is hard, but fair, on me which has helped me succeed on and off the football field.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played baseball, basketball, and soccer from 3rd grade until freshman year of high school; that is when I focused mainly on football.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I played running back, defensive back, and also linebacker growing up; once i hit high school as a freshman my older brother, who was a senior at the time, was a starting varsity wide receiver so he naturally converted me to a wide receiver n made me focus strictly on that position.

At your position, what separates you from others?

What separates me from others at my position is the ability to play both inside receiver and also be a perimeter threat; I can easily to adapt to whatever position coaches want me to play and be able to make plays there; Also, my ability to high point the football and be aggressive with catching the ball, having the mentality of no matter what that i am going to catch the ball when it is in the air.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When breaking down film, I look to see how the corners and safety’s are playing whether that is pressed, cover 2 or 4, zone, man, middle of the field open/closed, rolled down safety, safety replacing a blitzing linebacker, and to see how the corner plays whether they are quick to make cuts, play soft, too aggressive at times, and if how they handle themselves throughout the whole game (play hard every play or not).

Who is the toughest player you have ever faced?

The toughest player I have ever faced would have to be

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

If I had to compare my play to one player in the NFL it would be Eric Decker because he plays both slot and outside receiver and makes plays at both positions.  He runs clean routes, has great hands, makes plays when the game is on the line, and is reliable above all.  I see all of those qualities in myself as well.  He is not the fastest wide receiver in the league, as neither am I, but he is consistent and makes plays and is reliable as am I myself.

What is your biggest obstacle in your life you would have to overcome and how did you do so?

My biggest obstacle in my life was being overlooked coming out of high school and college.  I used that as motivation to work my butt off and get noticed and make plays.  I made sure that I was the hardest working guy in the weight room, on the field, and in the film room.  I made sure to keep elevating my game to the point where I would eventually get my chance which is now.  Nothing has changed either, I instill those qualities I just mentioned in myself everyday.

reecDo you have any pre-game rituals?

Yes I do.  It is to pray and thank God for my friends, family, and my future.  Ask him to keep my family, friends, and myself in excellent health, bless me throughout training, and keep me on the straight and narrow.  I don’t talk much before games, I like to keep to myself and get focused by just listening to music and thinking about making plays when the opportunities present themselves to help my team win.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is that i am quick and run very clean routes and catch the ball when it is in the air by any means necessary; either get the catch or get the call

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is coming from Division II football.  Despite my success, I have been under looked my whole life.  That fuels my fire though.  No excuses.

If I were a GM and I gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

In three words, reliable, consistent, and hard working.  I will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

My favorite player/team growing up?

The Indianapolis Colts and really looked up to Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison.

Dinner with 3 people dead or alive, who would it be?

Eric Decker, Derik Jeter, and Jen Selter.  2 guys I look up to quite a bit from on and off the field; Jen is the most attractive female I have ever seen haha.

First item I buy once in the NFL?

A trip for my parents anywhere they want to go.
