What is your name?

John Quazza

What is your Height/Weight?

6’6 255

What is your position?

TE/LS

Where do you play college football?

Colgate University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

Colgate as a team adopts classrooms at nearby schools and we hold a punt, pass, and kick with fans and younger athletes in the fall.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Geographic Information Systems was the hardest class I’ve ever been in, it was a very demanding and time-consuming course.

Where are you from?

West Milford, NJ

Who is your role model, and why?

Grandfather and Father, because they have been there for me every step of the way teaching me constantly and being honest when it came down to working hard.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Yes I also played basketball and baseball.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I was an outside linebacker in high school and played a little receiver.

At your position, what separates you from others?

My ability to get open, make a catch and get up field quickly and my versatility, whether it be inline, full back, off set, or split out to run routes and be an efficient blocker.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for tendencies an opponent has, whether they tip off a blitz or their timing on rolling into coverage.  This helps me recognize my assignment and communicate with the line or receivers outside of me.  I also like to see how their interior guys play the read so I’m prepared when I trap them.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

P.J. Hall from Sam Houston State

NCAA Football: Colgate at NavyIf you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I guess Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski because I am a bigger tight end who is a passing threat and a durable blocker with a lot of versatility to play in multiple formations.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest obstacle was being from a school that hadn’t implemented a tight end in the offense until my junior year. Up until then I played offensive line, and I didn’t play tight end until my senior year of high school so I went unnoticed for a while, until Coach Chris Young saw me play basketball and led me to Colgate.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I drink two bottles of pickle juice pregame and I wash my gloves before every game.

What is your biggest strength?

I’m coachable player and know the game of football well so I can adapt quickly.

What is your biggest weakness?

Having the fear of failing in a big moment.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I’m the guy you want have on your team because I am very durable and valuable in more aspects of the game than 1. I am a great special teams player and a great tight end that an offense can greatly utilize.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

I was born into a family of Jets fans, so I have been sticking with them my whole life through thick and thin.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Charles Darwin, Robin Williams, and Pat Tillman
