I played DT/DE in a college but am transitioning to LB.

Michigan Tech

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

Financial Derivatives

My grandma. She’s beat breast cancer twice, while always being there for everyone and, above all, keeping her faith first and foremost.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Basketball and baseball.

Did you play any other positions in football?

Defensive Tackle and Defensive End.

At your position, what separates you from others?

My effort and high-energy motor, as well as my football intelligence and intangibles.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for offensive tendencies, keys that can alert me to possible plays and weaknesses of the offensive line.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Matt Armstrong, GVSU.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Elvis Dumervil because of similar height and weight comparison, but is a guy who can drop and play coverage but also rush the passer with good leverage and explosiveness.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

After my senior year in high school I broke my right arm, dropped down to 195 pounds and was told to not even come to camp, just when school started. That spring, I wasn’t even listed on the depth chart and didn’t have a locker in the locker room. I had no option but to put my head down, work hard, hit the weight room religiously and believe in myself and my vision when it seemed crazy to other people.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Nothing too ritualistic, have a go-to music playlist that I listen to the morning of. Besides that, just visualize what I’m going to do in the game, set goals and then make it happen.

What is your biggest strength?

My conversion from lower to upper power and strength which shows in my physicality combined with my determined effort.

michigan techWhat is your biggest weakness?

At times I can elongate my steps, which makes me flat-footed and my body to pop up. With my height, I have to maintain my leverage and be explosive on the front of my feet.

I win. Every rep I use relentless effort and a high-energy motor with my intelligence to put myself in the right position to make plays and win each rep; I hate losing.

My favorite player was Ray Lewis and my favorite team was the Detroit Lions.

Ray Lewis, Warren Buffett and Kobe Bryant.

A new car; I like the new Escalade. That’s a few years off though, that’s not financially responsible just yet haha.
