NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Breakdown: Damontae Kazee, CB, San Diego State

Damontae Kazee-5’11 190 lbs., CB (RS SR.)-San Diego State
Damontae Kazee already shares one thing in common with former NFL LB Kirk Morrison. They are the only two players in San Diego State’s history to win the Mountain West Conference defensive player of the year. This season, Kazee is looking to make his case in the eyes of NFL evaluators as Morrison did from 2001-2004. Not only a skilled cover-corner, Kazee is also the primary punt returner for the Aztecs. If this ball-hawking CB can build on his excellent Junior season (75 tackles, 8 INTs), expect him to be one of the first 5-7 players at his position off the board come Spring 2017. Kazee possesses the ideal size and body type to grow into a solid number 2 or nickel cornerback. A 40-yard dash in the mid to low 4.40 range will only help his draft stock.

Player Comparison: D’Joun Smith (Indianapolis Colts)
