Ken Whisenhunt turns his back on the Lions for the Titans

Today Ken Whisenhunt shocked the world, when he chose the Tennessee Titans moments ago over the Detroit Lions.  This could be a major sign that no one wants to work with Martin Mayhew and his time should be over in Detroit.

Whisenhunt had been courted by the Lions. Instead, Whisenhunt chooses Tennessee’s No. 11 overall pick and its athletic defense over Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, and Detroit’s dominant defensive line. Whisenhunt, 52 next month, has a history with Nashville; he started his coaching career at Vanderbilt University in 1995.

In his lone season as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator, Whisenhunt helped turn around the career of Philip Rivers, got the most we’ve seen out of Ryan Mathews in his four seasons, and oversaw Keenan Allen’s extremely impressive rookie campaign. The Chargers fielded the league’s No. 5 offense in 2013, finishing fourth in passing and 13th in rushing. Whisenhunt has always seemed to favor passing.
