Judge agrees to erase Aaron Hernandez’s murder conviction

Aaron Hernandez will die with a clean wrap sheet

Aaron Hernandez will die with a clean record, at least on paper.  According to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports, Judge Susan Garsh has agreed to erase Aaron Hernandez’s conviction for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd because Hernandez died while the appeal was still pending.

The ruling arises from a Massachusetts law that resets the case to its inception if the defendant dies before the case concludes. Prosecutors had argued that erasing the conviction would reward Hernandez for taking his own life.

“Abatement remains the law in this Commonwealth and this court is compelled to follow binding precedent,” Garsh said.

I wonder if the Patriots will have to pay the money they voided by the conviction of Hernandez?  I would like to believe they will need to pay that money to his family now.
