Former Redskin Shawn Springs rips up the entire Redskins secondary, WOW
On Monday, a former Redskins corner, Shawn Springs, had an explanation for why he believes Clark, who works as an NFL analyst in the offseasons for ESPN, was speaking so freely to speak about the team after getting blown out by the Colts. Clark stated that he cannot sleep at night after losing the way he did yesterday, but Springs was not trying to hear it according to CBS Washington D.C..
“Well, here’s to Ryan’s defense,” Springs said to 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier. “Ryan was very upfront; he was honest; he told the truth. Ryan was speaking like that because he knows he’s gonna be on ESPN. His career’s over.”
Springs then proceeded to rip to shreds the Redskins secondary’s performance in the loss on Sunday.
“Now the rest of the guys, like [David] Amerson, and [Bashaud] Breeland, obviously,” he said. “But Amerson, and the young kid — I can’t even think of his name, I’m sorry, No. 38.”
“Greg Ducre,” both show hosts assisted.
“Ducre. I haven’t even decided to like even study these guys in the back end,” Springs joked. “I’m watching [Colts tight end Coby] Fleener and [Colts receiver Donte] Moncrief, guys who were not household names, guys you wouldn’t have even known until yesterday; they had four catches [for] over like 200 yards. If Fleener doesn’t drop another 30-yard pass that could have been turned into a 50[-yard catch], they would have had close to 250 yards on just wide-open catches. That’s embarrassing.
“And then Fleener outruns Amerson to the endzone. I mean, I’m just like, that’s effort. That’s not coaching, that has nothing to do with Raheem Morris, that has nothing to do with [Jim] Haslett’s play calls.
“If you can’t run down the tight end, please do not play in the NFL if you’re a cornerback. C’mon, now. It’s like, you can’t be that wide open. These guys, they were embarrassing. And I’m just like, and I’m just like, ‘Wow.’ I can’t even believe that, because Washington, for the last like 20 years has probably been known for defensive backs.”
