NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report: DJ Williams, WR, Glenville State
- DJ Williams, WR.
-
Glenville State College
-
Height: 6’1″
-
Weight: 205 lbs.
Pros: Has a nice stutter step to slow up cornerbacks. Fast receiver, straight line speed picks up and can burn opponents. Quicker than you would expect with someone of his size. Shows the ability to high point the ball and catch it. Good jumping ability. Fights for extra yardage. Not afraid to go over the middle. Showed improvements in routes ran from junior year to senior year.
Cons: Would like to see more tape against more physical/bump and run cornerbacks; as he would fly by a cornerback untouched. Would like to see quicker feet in and out of breaks in routes. Will sometimes jump when he doesn’t need to.
Overall: Williams improved his route tree from his junior year to senior year and displayed better route running skills. He wins with speed and is able to come down with tough catches. Defenders backed off of him due to his speed, so adding in more routes certainly helped him out. Will be interested to see him play against some more physical bump and runner cornerbacks. His playing style is pretty similar to that of Martavis Bryant.
