What is your name?

Darius Jones

What is your Height/Weight?

5-8 187

What is your position?

DB

Where do you play college football?

Georgia Southern

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

We helped deliver Flowers to people on valentines day and they all wanted to take pictures and seemed so happy that we showed up. It was jus a really good experience and made me feel great

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Accounting

Where are you from?

Woodruff, SC

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my dad and my uncle because they push me to be a better man in all aspects of life.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Basketball, Track

Did you play any other positions in football?

RB,WR,

At your position, what separates you from others?

The ability to be consistent and come out and play at a top level no matter what, also understanding the game and knowing what is coming and what I can do on certain wide outs and what I can not do on others. knowing when someone is more athletic and using my knowledge of the game to beat them in different ways.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When I break down film the first thing I look for is the speed of all the Wide outs. Next I study the release and which release is their go to move. Everybody has tendencies so you figure that out and try to make the wide out uncomfortable. Last but not least I try to find out which down is the  big play down and when they want to throw the ball down field. knowing the down and distance allows me to usually cut the routes down to about 3 or 4 routes which allows me to play faster.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Corey Davis from Western Michigan

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Brent Grimes he is a smaller CB who can play both inside and outside, I watch him play and use some of his techniques in order to beat bigger Wide outs. He is small but he plays big and doesn’t let his size be a excuse for him. Nobody believed in him coming out of college or even going into college and I feel the same way.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle in my life that I had to overcome was losing my grandmother in the 10th grade. Football was the way I could just get away from the world for a few hours. She actually died on the day of our first playoff game, I played amazing and when the game was over I realize that life moves on and when bad things happen you just have to keep pushing.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I sit in the end zone and just talk to myself and god for a little while. Once i get up and get ready to go inside I tell myself that no matter what happens out here its just a game and to enjoy it while you can.

What is your biggest strength?

Biggest strength for me would have to be quickness and knowledge of the game

What is your biggest weakness?

Biggest weakness would have to be height but God made me this way and if the NFL is in his plan then it doesn’t matter, but if it is not a part of his plan I just thank him for allowing me to play this great game of football for this long.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

That I am blessed with the opportunity to even be standing here in front of you today. I promise that I will give my all and enjoy every second of it. I will always be respectful and respect this team and community in the best possible way I can. If you give me a shot I promise I will do my best and show you why I belong on this field with the greatest players in the world. Thank you for taking the time out to talk to me and God bless.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

Favorite player growing up was Larry Johnson and the Chiefs were my favorite team just because he played for them.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

MLK, My grandmother, and Barack Obama

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

I would open a  bank account up for my sister and start preparing to send her to college in a few years. Also buy my mom a Car. After that it’s time to start saving for the future because football does not last forever
