What could the Dallas Cowboys land for Morris Claiborne?

claiborneThe Dallas Cowboys need to be on the telephone working the lines, trying to get their former first round bust out as fast as possible. Yesterday, when he was told that he was being benched for Orlando Scandrick (Who has been suspended), he became angry and irate and left the building. He did not show for the evening practice, and is considered AWOL.

With the trade deadline looming (October 28th), the Dallas Cowboys need to be working the phones. Especially with how poor some teams secondaries are right now.

Here are three teams that I feel could use Morris Claibornes services, but would they be willing to give up a draft pick and what pick would it be?

The New Orleans Saints know a thing or two about Morris Claiborne. Claiborne played his college ball at Louisiana State University right down the road from the Saints. Everyone in Louisiana is a fan of the Tigers, so they know about Claiborne and his play making abilities.  If you look at how horrible their secondary is as well, this is a  no brainer.  The Saints need help and Claiborne could help.  This would be the first team I call if I am the Cowboys. I would offer Claiborne up for a 3rd rounder, and hope I can at least receive a 4th and 7th for him.

Secondly, I would call the Detroit Lions.  The Lions are the best defense in the NFL right now, but they are banged up in their secondary.  They lost James Ihedigbo and Bill Bentley for the season. They are very thin in the secondary, and Claiborne could be a huge asset to their secondary. I do not see the Lions giving up too much to land Claiborne, but I am pretty sure they would throw a 5th round draft pick out there for a former first rounder.

Lastly, the Baltimore Ravens are never afraid to make a trade for a player. They Cowboys and Ravens have trade history since earlier this year the Ravens traded Rolando McClain to the Boys. This could be another situation that makes a lot of sense. The Ravens have been signing Derek Cox week to week because they are thin in the secondary.  The Ravens could work a deal out, but I would not expect them to give up too much for Claiborne. Maybe a late round pick.

Either way, at the end of trade deadline, I expect the Cowboys to move Claiborne. He has had way too many shots in Dallas and he just doesn’t get it. I cannot see the team holding onto a problem child.
