Cowboys wide out Dez Bryant wants to talk a new contract “Now”

DezAfter hiring Jay Z’s Roc Nation to represent him and hopefully help him become “an icon,” Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant said he is willing to discuss a contract extension during the season “if it’s right,” Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports.

That’s a change of policy for Bryant, who fired agent Eugene Parker recently. Bryant said this summer that he would cut off negotiations until the off-season if he didn’t reach an agreement with the Cowboys on a contract extension before the regular season started.

Bryant’s rookie contract, a five-year, $11.8 million deal, expires at the end of the season. He believes he deserves to be one of the NFL’s highest-paid receivers and is seeking a deal that would pay him around $13 million per year.

Contract-year WR Dez Bryant said he’d be “highly disappointed” if the Cowboys slap him with the franchise tag this offseason.

This is great news for Cowboys fans, who were hoping Jerry Jones could get a deal done before the season, but that didn’t happen. Dez is the one that pushed that contract talk off, but now he is open to talking.  Jerry needs to get this deal done today if he can, do you agree?
