Chris Long has a powerful message to all people that look like him
Eagles pass rusher Chris Long grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. This week when his hometown made the headlines it upset him. Especially when a young lady lost her life protesting against the protestors. Chris Long took a stance last night with Malcolm Jenkins and then commented on the situation afterwards.
“I just told Malcolm, ‘I’m here for you,’” Long said afterward. “I think it’s a good time for people that look like me to be here for people that are fighting for equality.”
Said Jenkins: “This is a moment in time where he feels the need to kind of take that step and lead, and I appreciate that.”
Do you think Chris Long is right? I personally agree with what he is saying.
This happened once before in sports, and it broke the color barrier. Jackie Robinson had Pee Wee Reese’s arm around him as he stood there. This is a statue that they may want to showcase, not those who were in favor of slavery.
