Browns rookie RB Terrence West calls the questions about Johnny Football a distraction
Is Johnny Manziel a distraction? It sure sounds like it according to Terrence West. The former Towson running back was asked about Johnny Manziel and if he thought the questions were a distraction, and boy was he honest.
“Yes, because it’s a distraction,” rookie running back Terrance West said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “We’re here to play football and it’s all about all of his off-the-field stuff, so it’s a distraction.”
West admitted he’d love for the attention to stop, but didn’t begrudge Manziel enjoying himself.
“He’s enjoying life,” West said. “He’s not doing anything negative. He’s not getting arrested or getting DUIs or anything like that. I don’t think it’s a big deal. Everyone’s supposed to enjoy life and have fun.”
I honestly feel where West is going with the news, because as a player you are there to learn the playbook and focus on making the team. These rookies are being asked about Johnny Manziel daily, and I see how it could become a distraction. At the end of the day, Johnny is going to be Johnny. He is not hurting people, but people love to talk about him. It sucks for him, but it is fun.
