NFL Draft: 3 prospects the Denver Broncos should keep an eye on.

The 2016 season, feels like a long time ago, for the players, front office, and fans alike of the Denver Broncos. The days of Peyton Manning, and his high powered offense, rolling up defenses are long gone. (Bronco fans cover your eyes) It gets worse, there coveted defense, was a shell of itself, as apposing offenses ran rampant in 2017. With all that said, the feeling of hope, should burn bright in the rocky mountain. With a roster based with talent, on both sides of the ball, GM John Elway, isn’t that far off from building the powerhouse they once were.

Good News is, here at Draft Diamonds, we are here to help. We scoured the Bronco roster, looking for the biggest needs. And found a few prospects that could help, from day one.

  1. QB Josh Allen (Wyoming)- Big surprise, another site linking Denver to another quarterback. Well, it is true, the broncos QB situation was a mess last year. And it is time to find the answer to all the hard questions. Starting with the 6’5 Allen, built like a horse, the young gunslinger is the real deal. Able to make all the throws, Allen, has the skill set, and leadership that may remind you of a former Bronco (Elway). I am not going to sit here and throw stats at you, to me it’s a waste of time. Just put on the tape, and you can learn everything you need to about him. When they had there most success, they had stability at the QB position, so it would behoove (John) Elway, and the front office to go after a player like Allen.
  2. OT Chukwuma Okorafor (Western Michigan)- You will never find success, if your trenches are a disaster, no matter who you have under center. Enter Okorafor, the Western Michigan (Bronco), has been a wall at times. Blessed with great feet, to help in the pass game, and get leverage on defenders and a quick first step to dominate off the snap. He is big man (6’5 330), with a big nasty attitude to go with his play. Capable of playing both tackle spots, and a little guard, he would be an immediate upgrade on the line. Denver’s offense took a solid step in adding OT Garrett Bolles, this year. But the need to solidify there front line is an obvious one, one that could be helped greatly with a talent like Okorafor.
  3. ILB Darius Leonard (South Carolina State)- Size, speed, and athleticism, 3 things most scouts look for when evaluating the middle defenders. Well, check, check and check, add instinct and high football I.Q. and you have Leonard. The thick bodied, playmaker has great size (6’2 239) and strong eye discipline when hunting down ball carriers. Let’s be honest, if he had played for Alabama, or some other big school, we would be talking about him as a top prospect. But the fact is he played for a smaller school, and didn’t get the hype the D-1 schools get. Don’t be fooled by it all, Leonard is a true sideline to sideline Backer. Solid in both the run and pass game, he would be an immediate help for this tough Denver defense. Needless to say, anytime you can find a blue chip talent on day 2 and on, it is a steal. And with Leonard, Elway would find gold.
