Aaron Rodgers wants to play but still needs a negative X-Ray

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said the only thing that needs to happen before he can be cleared to return from his broken collarbone is a positive scan.

His coach, Mike McCarthy, said that no additional tests were scheduled.

“We’re not going to continue doing that,” McCarthy said Wednesday after Rodgers was a limited participant in practice.

So unless there’s another way to check how the bone has healed, logic would suggest that Rodgers won’t return for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I think you have to just follow the protocol of the rehab,” McCarthy said. “This is a medical situation just like every other player, and they have a plan for him to progress, and hopefully he comes in here [Thursday] and feels better, and maybe he’ll be able to do more [Thursday], so we’ll see.”
