The 49ers could cut Stevie Johnson

Stevie Johnson was known for supporting and getting the #BillsMafia going in Buffalo. His swag and great play was loved in the city of Buffalo, and when he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers many people hung their heads in the City of Buffalo, because it was like losing a friend, or a family member.

The only good thing was Stevie would be able to return back to the bay where he was originally from. Well, his return has not been a good one.  SJ13 is struggling with getting in rhythm with Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick, in fact, called Johnson’s movements “unorthodox,” and that’s not the first time Johnson has heard his route running described that way.

“I’ve pretty much taken it upon myself to be unorthodox to make up for some things that other receivers have – you know, speed and quickness,” he said this week. “I set up my routes a little different. It’s a gift and a curse. Because it can take some time to build chemistry with quarterbacks. But at the same time, the gift is that you know you can get open.”

If a quarterback does not have a good rhythm with their wide receiver that is not good.  When the 49ers went with three wide receivers Sunday, Quinton Patton, not Johnson, was the third receiver and Johnson didn’t play with Kaepernick. Jim Harbaugh, meanwhile, has said that coaches haven’t decided on a No. 3 receiver behind Boldin and Michael Crabtree. That has led to some speculation that Johnson, scheduled to earn $3.65 million in base salary, may be a surprise cut.
If Johnson was released, I know the entire city of Buffalo would welcome him back with open arms, but they might not be able too, because one quarterback that does have a good relationship with Stevie is Ryan Fitzpatrick.  If the Texans want to make a move they can because they hold the first pick in waiver claims.  Could you imagine Stevie Johnson and Andre Johnson with DeAndre Hopkins?  Just saying…..
