What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I grew up in the backyard playing football with my older brothers and watching them play football so once I was old enough to play middle school ball that’s what I wanted to do. Always wanting to be like them.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Always been a dream of mine to play in the NFL and I will do whatever it takes to achieve it. Not only that but I want to take care of my family and make sure they don’t have to struggle anymore in their life.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would probably say Quenton Nelson or Zack Martin. Sitting with a guy like that gaining knowledge from them would be great for me as a player.

What are favorite moments from your football life?

Winning multiple championships and bowl games are my favorite games in my career.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Both my parents are my inspiration. My mom passed here recently this past may and I made promises to both her and my dad and I will not let them down.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

Probably our scheme we ran at UAB. Outside zone and inside zone. Get the defense running sideline to sideline then hit them down hill with inside zone. Really gets the defense tired out.

What should we know about Matthew Trehern the person?

Matthew is a guy that loves his family. Would do anything for them. He is the most humble and hardest worker you will meet.

What stands out about your film the most?

The way I finished guys every play. I play the game with an attitude like every offensive linemen should. Either finishing them into the ground or with a violent shove at the end of the play.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Whether it’s on the field or off, you have to have a neutral mindset. You give up a TFL, next play, give up a sack, next play. Don’t let adversity dictate who you are and how you play.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Like I’ve mentioned before, they would get the hardest worker and a guy that’s ready to compete. A guy that plays the game with an attitude and will get after someone. All together they would get a consistent person everyday.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

Being an offensive linemen. You can physically move another man against his own will. It’s great. Fires me up!

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Probably Dwayne McBride. That guy runs hard, physical, and with a purpose. Whoever picks him up this year is getting a dawg no doubt.
