Hello, I am Justin Berendzen, @jrberendzen on Twitter, and this is one of my free agent interviews. I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves, and about what a team would get in these players if they signed them. All of these players should hopefully get a chance to be picked up by NFL, CFL, USFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being career football players. So I hope you all read this interview here.

What is your typical training routine?

Lift 4-5x a week, field work 5-6x a week.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The competition, and the brotherhood.

What is the most important trait you have and why?

Grit. Either you have it or you don’t. It can’t be taught. It can’t be measured. I just know when I set my mind to something its going to get accomplished. No matter how many times I get knocked down I’ll always stand up and continue to fight.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

Any offense that spreads the field, airs the ball out, and gives playmakers a chance to make plays.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I handle challenges in life and football the same way. When there’s a will there’s a way. I believe that if you set your mind to it and are willing to put in the work than anything is possible.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

First day walking into the BC locker room realizing that my childhood dream had become reality. Also beating my rival HS my senior year on thanksgiving, a game I’ll never forget.

What should we know about Clifford Kurker the person?

I’m more than a football player. When I’m not honing my craft I spend my time mentoring and giving back to the youth. I want to show the kids I work with that if you set your mind to something and are willing to put in the work ANYTHING is possible.

What stands out about your play on the field the most?

First is my speed/explosiveness. Second is my willingness to do anything to help the team. I play on all special teams and take pride in doing whatever I can to help put the team in a position to win.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Randy Moss, not only one of the most talented players to ever play the game, but also from all that I’ve heard is a great individual. I looked up to Randy for as long as I can remember so that would be cool to spend some time with him.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Any team that decides to bring me in will be getting a disciplined, determined, playmaking WR/KR/PR. The first one in the building and last one to leave. Someone who is committed to doing anything and everything possible to help the team win.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Benny Glines, RB/WR from Boston College. One of the most physically gifted hardest workers I’ve ever been around. Learned so much from not only his game, but how he conducts himself off the field.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Going forward I want to reach my full potential. I want to be able to look back at my career and say I gave everything I had in me to the game and left it all on the field. I also want to be able to say I played a role in helping my team win at least a championship.
