Jets need to cut Zach Wilson, let’s face it he is not the future of the Jets
Zach Wilson was benched in the third quarter for Chris Streveler a former CFL quarterback and the fourth stringer. The Jets were looking for any kind of spark and they could not find it. Zach Wilson did take responsibility for the horrible offense and claims he needs to look himself in the mirror, but the Jets management has to look themselves in the mirror.
“I’ve got to look myself in the mirror, I’ve got to go back and watch this tape, and you’ve got to be hard on yourself and just say, ‘Why are we not moving the ball?’ It starts with me,” Wilson said. “I didn’t put my team in the best position there and we didn’t do anything on offense.”
“I’ve just got to put my head down and try and get better for these guys,” Wilson said. “That’s kind of my message for them. I’m trying to give it everything I’ve got. I’m trying to late it out for you guys and it’s not good enough. I’ve got to put them in a better position.”
Wilson was getting booed and admitted it was hard to hear boos.
“Yeah, it is, but I don’t blame them. We have a passionate fan base and they’re here to watch us score touchdowns and we’re not scoring touchdowns, we’re not getting first downs, we’re not moving the ball, we obviously can’t throw the ball. Of course they’re frustrated,” Wilson said.
The Jets need to move on from Zach Wilson. Mike White gave the Jets a spark but let’s be honest he is not the future either. The Jets need to draft a quarterback or make a trade for a quarterback before the start of next season. I would not rule out a team like the Green Bay Packers as trade partners. Maybe Aaron Rodgers would do well with the Jets.
The Jets did an amazing job drafting this year landing Ahmad Gardner, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall who will all be stars for years to come. They need to find a starting quarterback now.
I doubt the Jets could get some quality compensation for him at this point, but let’s face it he is not the face of the franchise.
