Former Prairie View A&M football player James Blanton was shot and killed by two home intruders
James Blanton the former Prairie View A&M offensive lineman was sitting at his house when he heard noises in his back yard. When attempting to see what the noise was, he discovered two intruders in the back yard.
Blanton approached the two intruders and began fighting them. The intruders panicked and shot the 6’7 lineman in front of his girlfriend.
Blanton was 34 years old, and was trying to defend his girlfriend and his house when he was shot and killed. Blanton died outside of his Sunnyside townhome during what detectives believe was a targeted robbery.
Blanton was shot multiple times to his head, torso, upper and lower extremities.
Please keep the family of James in your prayers during this tough time. This is a tragic situation, and could happen to anyone. He was just trying to protect his house and his family. So sad.
