Franco Harris is dead at the age of 72.

The man responsible for one of the most iconic plays in NFL history “The Immaculate Reception” has passed away, according to multiple sources including ESPN.

Harris was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. Harris’ death came days before the Steelers were set to retire his No. 32 jersey and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception at Acrisure Stadium.

Harris ran for 12,120 yards and won four Super Bowl rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970’s. The Fort Dix, New Jersey native from Penn State was a legend and he will be missed. Rest in Peace #32
