Player Summary:

rSr, aligns at OLB mainly in the 9 tech for UTUN. Has average height and below average weight. Has good athleticism, twitch, agility and instincts. Against the run, he is below-average. He does a good job with his initial punch extending his arms on the block, however that can only get him so far. Most of the time, he has trouble shedding the block, even from a TE. He does a decent job setting the edge. He takes good angles and shows good effort from hash to hash. In coverage, he is satisfactory. He does not drop into coverage often, however when he does, his mix of athleticism and instincts help get the job done. In man coverage, he is slightly above-average. His athleticism helps him stick with RB’s and TE’s (saw minimal reps in man). In zone coverage, he is solid. His instincts help him understand where the ball is going in order to make a play on the ball. He feels routes that enter his area along with routes that go behind him and does a fine job reading the QB’s eyes. He is a good tackler who offers knockback. When rushing against the pass, he is good. Has adequate get off, honorable twitch, along with useful pass rush moves including a proficient spin move. He does not seem to utilize his hands very effectively.

Scheme Fit:

OLB in 3-4, potential DPR.

Power Statement:

Reid is an interesting prospect who has average height, good athleticism, and good twitch. However, he lacks the ideal size to play at the next level. If he puts on about 15-20 pounds I can see him having an opportunity. His best attribute is his pass rush. I have not seen him play for Utah yet this season, who could be using him differently than Stanford did, for whom I watched him play for this review.. I will keep an eye on him as this season unfolds.
