Jets QB Zach Wilson will undergo knee surgery on Tuesday
The New York Jets are hopeful that Zach Wilson the 23-year-old quarterback will return sooner rather than later. They learned great news that Wilson did not tear his ACL, but he will still require knee surgery.
That surgery is scheduled for this week. New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will have arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee.
Prominent orthopedic surgeon Neal ElAttrache will perform the surgery on Tuesday. Wilson was flying west on Sunday in preparation for the procedure. The Jets are hoping ElAttrache will only need to trim the meniscus, but the actual extent of the surgery won’t be known until he gets a closer look at the injury during the procedure.
The Jets selected Wilson No. 2 overall in 2021. New York went just 3-10 under Wilson during his rookie campaign. Wilson finished the year throwing for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 13 starts.
Veteran Joe Flacco took first-team reps in practice on Sunday, and could be the starter week 1 if Zach Wilson is not ready.
