Fox Agrees to Settlement in USFL Trademark Case

According to Front Office Sports, Fox recently reached an agreement with the original USFL owners for the alleged use of their trademark.

The USFL was resurrected this year and was super successful with the guidance of Fox. In April many of the team names and logos used by the original franchises from the three-season run from 1983-85, kicked off the season.

The lawsuit was dropped by the holding company “The Real USFL” on Monday.

The Real USFL attorneys Alex J. Brown and Nicholas Matich told Front Office Sports that they had “reached an agreement with FOX Sports over the network’s use of the brand identities of the original 1980s league.”

This is great news for the league because it was a super successful start-up league. Over 50 players were given a shot in the NFL, and Fox had pretty solid numbers on television as well.
