Scott Ochsner the standout offensive lineman from SUNY Brockport recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Justin Berendzen.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My love for the game and just being allowed to physically dominate someone across from you for 60 minutes.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mom she has a great work ethic and works as hard as she can everyday. She always puts others before herself and donates her free time to helping out locally with food banks and just always finds a way to help people in need.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Winning back to back Empire 8 championships with Brockport and ending my high school career by winning a state championship with Skaneateles.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Vince Wilfork. Just think he’s a cool dude and want to know if he thinks he could’ve taken the interception against the chargers to the house if he didn’t get ankle tackled at the 30.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Brockport?

I love the winning culture and Brockport has just that winning 3 conference championships in a row in 2017-2018-2019 and being apart of two of them was awesome. Playing for Coach Mangone and Coach Potter as well, everyday we find ways to get better there is no such thing as a finished product here there are always ways to get better. They do a great job of coaching you up on things you can improve on and getting you closer to being the best player you can be.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I bring a lot of passion and juice to the field. I play with a lot of confidence and want to run the ball and get after you. I love getting after it early and setting the tone on play one.

What should we know about Scott Ochsner the person?

What you should know about Scott Ochsner is that he doesn’t quit. No matter what the odds are or what the circumstances is he will continue to work as hard as possible to become the best he can be.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

21 personnel I like to get down hill with the two extra blockers in and move the ball on the ground.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

There is always going to be adversity in life and in football. I like to work through adversity by relying on my technique on the field and controlling what I can control. In life when I face adversity I like to work through it and do the right thing even if it might be the harder option.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get a highly motivated and hard working player. I never feel content and always want to find ways to get better. Whether it’s working on the field in the weight room or in the film rooms. I’m open to suggestions and coaching and am ready to get better.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

In the upcoming season I’m most excited to have one last chance to go out with my team and win the Empire 8 championship. We have a great group of returning guys on the offensive line and all over the field as well. I’m excited to see all of our hard work pay off and go play championship level football. We have a lot to prove this year after losing the Empire 8 championship and playing Cortland for homecoming is going to be super exciting.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

I would say the most underrated player I’ve ever played with is Lawrence Jenkins. He was a stud an absolute problem off the edge and his coverage was even better. He never truly got the recognition he deserved nationally, but in our eyes he’s one of the best to do it and a great leader.
