Report: Browns will not be trading for QB Jimmy Garoppolo

97 FCS football players on NFL rosters? Former Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy G, is just one of 97 players from the FCS Division to make it to the NFL and stick on the roster!
Browns shut the door on the idea of adding QB Jimmy Garoppolo

There have been rumors that the Cleveland Browns could be a landing spot for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but that is not the case.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports said that the door is closed on that possibility.

“They believe in Jacoby Brissett,” Jones said about the Browns. “… They’re not going to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. They are not going to trade for his salary cap number, which is around $24 million. Everyone in the NFL is waiting on the San Francisco 49ers to ultimately cut Jimmy Garoppolo, and then there can be a sort of feeding frenzy on Garoppolo.”

Former Browns GM says GO GET JIMMY GAROPPOLO

Yesterday, former Browns General Manager Mike Lombardi told TMZ Sports, the Browns need to salvage their season and go trade for Jimmy G, but I guess that is not going to be the case. Lombardi made several comments about the situation and even said Watson is not going to just miraculous shine when he comes back from being suspended.

“I know this is a little bit of a disruption,” Lombardi said, “but you can go get Garoppolo and save your season.”

“The offense being run in Cleveland is the same terminology as the offense in San Francisco,” Lombardi said. “Garoppolo could walk into Cleveland tomorrow, and within about a week he would be able to execute their offense.”

“Look,” he said, “this notion that Deshaun is just going to come back in Week 12 and all of the sudden magically score, throw four touchdown passes and dominate the NFL, that’s unrealistic. That’s not even remotely accurate.”

Well, I guess Browns General Manager Andrew Berry does not agree with Lombardi. Jimmy Garoppolo’s next destination is slowly diminishing.
