Stamford High School football player Djemayley Vernet dies suddenly after unexpected seizures

A healthy high school football player named Djemayley Vernet died after suffering multiple unexpected seizures.

Djemayley Vernet was a 16-year-old football player at Stamford High School. Vernet unexpectedly fell ill last week, suffering a series of seizures before his death on Saturday.

A heartfelt GoFundMe page was posted on Vernet’s passing.

On Wednesday August 3rd, we received word that Djemayley suffered from several seizures in his house. He was quickly rushed to Stamford hospital where he was put into a medically induced coma until the doctors could figured out why the seizures persisted and caused his troubled breathing.

Djemayley was a healthy 16 year old boy who came to church every Sunday and had no medical history of any sort, so our family was shook to our core. People have had seizures but in his case the doctors could not find a reason for what was going on. They had no answers for the abrupt illness that overtook his body.

After hours of waiting for results from a CAT Scan, doctors told us the test came back inconclusive.

Djemayley would wake up and begin talking but the next morning he would pass away.

A GoFundMe account was created to help with funeral expenses. We at Draft Diamonds are praying for the Vernet family.
