Should the Washington Commanders trade Antonio Gibson?
The Washington Commanders fans would love to see Antonio Gibson succeed, but he continues to struggle. After their game against the Carolina Panthers, head coach Ron Rivera sounded pretty pissed with the third year running back.
“Antonio’s got to run harder,” Rivera told reporters. “When he starts to shuffle and go sideways, that’s when he struggles.”
Gibson continues to struggle holding on the ball. Gibson was pretty hard on himself in the post-game too. He knows he is struggling with holding the ball and said he is frustrated.
“Very frustrating,” Gibson said. “Can’t have that.”
The Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. looked great. It sounds like Ron Rivera was pretty clear to Gibson. If he wants to play he is going to have to redeem himself.
If Gibson cannot turn it around, will Rivera shop the running back?
I could see Gibson on the trade block, but what could they get for him in exchange? Gibson has two more games to get this right. He has players who want his spot though. Jaret Patterson from Buffalo was a great addition last year as a UDFA, and add in the fact that JD McKissic turned down the Bills offer to return to the Commanders means that backfield is packed. Gibson better start running harder.
