John Metchie III was one of the top rated football players in the 2022 NFL Draft. The star wide receiver was eventually drafted by the Houston Texans and it was a great move for the team.

Unfortunately, the team found out that Metchie III was recently diagnosed with leukemia and will now miss the entire 2022 season. The 22-year-old wide out posted this statement.

“Recently I was diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia), the most curable from of Leukemia,” he wrote in a statement.

“I am currently receiving great medical care, am in good spirits and I expect to make a recovery at a later point in time.

“As a result of this diagnosis, I will likely not be playing football this season. My main focus will be on my health and recovery.

“Thank you in advance for your support and well-wishes. I cannot wait to come back stronger than ever. God Bless.”

Metchie III was the 44th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a superstar in Alabama where he racked up 1,142 yards and 8 touchdowns last year alone.

We are praying for the young wide receiver, and we ask that you please lift him up as well.
