What sets you apart from other defensive linemen?

What sets me apart from other defensive linemen is that I watch a lot of film to study the game and learn tendencies. Doing that helps the game slow down and I can anticipate what’s coming.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite football moment so far is back in 2019 when I had the game winning sack versus Western Carolina.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Aaron Donald because he’s the most talked about defensive lineman today and could share some knowledge.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Gardner Webb?

My teammates. We all understand that we are family and always push each other to get better everyday. Also that I have a single digit #1.

How do you prepare for games?

When gameday comes around I’m a big pregame music guy, I usually click shuffle to see the vibes I’m going with that day. Also I have to get some stretching the night before!

What should we know about Janathian Turner the person?

I always keep a smile on my face. Everyone who has gotten to know me knows I am the goofiest person and have a very outgoing personality.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

In the 7th grade my mom made me go to my first football practice. Ended up being good at it and fell in love with the game.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I am the most excited person on the field. I feel as though my energy is contagious and it shows through my teammates.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

When overcoming challenges I always think about the future I’m trying to obtain which allows me to persevere.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would be getting an unselfish player. I care about winning more than myself and want to see players have the same success as me.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I’m looking to have a winning season/championship and become a all-american. While bettering myself for the next level.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Charlie Jackson, a fellow defensive lineman. He shows potential. If he stays focused he’s on pace to be the best nose in the Big South.
