Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, USFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being career football players. So I hope you all read this interview with Henry Kellogg defensive lineman.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

What made me want to become a football player is that I enjoyed the sport at an early age and then slowly starting falling in love with the game. I started around 8 years old and have always admired the physicality of the game. As I realized I had potential to keep playing at higher levels, that’s when I realized to start taking it seriously.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Definitely Khalil Mack. He’s an elite edge rusher and learning from one of the greats would help me become better at my position, and at the game of football.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

One of my favorite moments from my football life was actually this past spring while playing in the Fan Controlled Football League. In our very first exhibition game we had, it was 4th down and we needed a stop on defense. I did one of my signature “cross/chop” moves coming off the edge and had a huge hit on the QB. We ended up winning the game and hearing my name on the mic was a really good feeling for me. My family was watching and I love putting on a show for them. They are the ones I really do this for.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I’m looking to achieve limitless opportunities to continue to play at the professional level, and one day an NFL team will have enough interest in me to sign me to their roster.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I bring an indescribable energy to the game. I’m always energetic on the field, and always looking to uplift my brothers so we can all play to the best of our abilities as a team.

What is your typical training routine?

My typical training routine is mostly compound movements Bench, squat, deadlift. I also like to add plyometrics in as well to stay athletic a few times a week as well.

What should we know about Henry Kellogg the person?

That I’m a competitor with a non stop motor.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

My favorite defensive scheme would probably be a 4-3 defense. I’m typically in a tilted 5 tech, which gives me an advantage to bend off the edge if I’m pass rushing, if it’s a run I can easily set the edge by forcing the ball back inside and maintaining gap integrity.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I do what I can, pray on it, and leave it in gods hands. I try not to stress over too much , there’s a scripture in the book of John. Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” I think about this quote a lot in life because sometimes you may not understand whats happening or what is next, but you will eventually understand. So just leave it in God’s hands.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Someone that’s coachable. Eager to learn, respectful, passionate for the game, and an good athlete.

What do you love about the game of football?

I love the physicality of the game, especially me playing on the line of scrimmage. It gets rough and in order to play defensive line you have to be physical and violent at the point of attack.

What sets you apart from other edge rushers?

What sets me apart from other edge rushers is my motor and hand fighting skills, I keep my hands up and always ready so I can quickly access any moves I need within the blink of an eye.
