Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
My major is in Professional Communication with a focus in Production. I also have a minor in coaching. I have run and produced for our school TV show. I have also been the sales manager of the tv and radio station on campus.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?
They would say that I’m a positive person. I try to stay upbeat no matter the scenario.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
As a 3-time team captain, I set the tone for the younger players and lead by example. I’ve started at both LT and RT. Most of my starts have been on the right side although I am open to all positions, whatever gives me the best chance to play.

When I first came to college, our team was very run-heavy. We have since developed into a zone-based scheme which opens up the passing game. I pride myself in the ability to be a quality pass protector.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
In 2019, I played against All-American Chris Garrett who played for Concordia St Paul. He was an animal. We knew he was going to be a threat. So, we took time to prepare for him.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
Sebastian Gutierrez really impressed me in how he developed into one of our best players. He came in as a TE and worked very hard to get his opportunity. He continued to get better, molding into one of the best tackles in the conference. He is currently on the Denver Broncos roster.

Knylen Miller-Levi is the most athletic guy on the field and really shuts down his side of the field. I’m lucky to have him on our team.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
When I was 14 years old, we suffered through the worst flood that Alberta has ever had. We lived near a man-made lake, and I remember trudging through knee deep water carrying sandbags around town. We had to evacuate our house for 2 weeks. We worked hard fixing the mold and tearing out drywall. It was really an eye-opening experience. Yet, it really brought the family together.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
Probably hockey. I played both hockey and baseball in high school. Hockey was my first love. Not only did I play for several years, but I also worked as a referee with my dad for 10 years.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
I’m proud of being a college athlete. It’s a privilege and something I always wanted to do. I’m also honored to be a team captain and recognized by my peers as a leader.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
Playing against Concordia St Paul in 2019 was a memorable experience. I got my first start a week before due to a teammate going down with an injury. We all knew that Concordia St Paul was going to be a huge challenge, facing the top pass rusher in the nation. Having the ability to win my one-on-one battles with him and ultimately getting that win, helped boost my confidence and reassured me that I deserved to start.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
My favorite professional athlete is “Jumbo” Joe Thornton who’s a veteran hockey player. I’ve always been a Seahawks fan, and enjoyed watching Duane Brown. He’s a player that I always thought did a great job and showed a ton of grit. I also like to watch players like Laremy Tunsil and Taylor Lewan. Tunsil is a dominating player that uses his hands and feet well. I enjoy Taylor Lewan’s personality and how he plays with passion.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
Prof is a rapper that I enjoy. “Sandstorm” is a song by Darude that always gets me going.

What is your favorite comfort food?
My mom’s lasagna and my dad’s perogies are my favorite comfort foods.

Do you have a favorite movie, TV show or actor?
My favorite TV show is Friends. Paul Rudd is one of my favorite actors. I also enjoy Adam Sandler movies like Happy Gilmore.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
I’m a big golfer in the summer, spending time with the guys. I also coach youth baseball. One of my secret talents is that I can juggle.

Why do you play football? Who or what motivates you the most?
I play football for my family. They have always supported me, taking me on road trips and being my biggest fans. With my opportunity to play at the next level, I hope to make them proud.
