The National Football League is a historic league enjoyed by fans around the world. It is one of the most popular sporting leagues around, with millions tuning in and placing bets throughout the season. NFL betting is incredibly popular, with people heading to their favorite ON betting sites to wager on team and player performances. If you enjoy betting or are just a fan of the game, there are important records to know.

Understanding the major NFL records can give you insight into what bets you should and shouldn’t make. Let’s look at some of the most incredible NFL records that the league has ever seen.

Seven Super Bowl Victories

Naturally, the list starts off with the legendary Tom Brady. Brady has led his teams to a whopping seven Super Bowl Victories. He holds the record for the most Super Bowl wins by any NFL player.

Seven Sacks in a Game

Derrick Thomas was a force of nature for the Chiefs, and he had his most incredible game ever when he ran up seven sacks against the Seattle Seahawks. This is a record that may never be broken.

26 Straight Losses

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers of old were a terrible NFL franchise, and from 1976-77, this fledgling franchise lost an embarrassing 26 straight NFL games. Yikes.

546 Receiving Yards in a Postseason

Larry Fitzgerald had an incredible NFL career and his greatest effort game in the 2009 playoffs. He dragged the Cardinals to the Super Bowl with 546 yards in four games.

31-Touchdown Season

LaDanian Tomlinson was a workhorse running back for the San Diego Chargers. In 2006, he amassed 31 total touchdowns, shattering an NFL record.

2,673-Career Points

Adam Vinatieri had an incredibly long career as a field-goal kicker for the Colts and Patriots. Over that 24-year career, he amassed 2,673 points, a record for the position.

297 Consecutive Starts

Brett Favre was known for his incredible longevity, and his greatest feat may be his iron man run of 297 consecutive starts. This is more than 15 straight seasons starting every game without a break.

2,105 Rushing Yards in a Season

When Eric Dickerson arrived in the NFL, the league hadn’t seen anything like him. It still hasn’t. His 2,105 rushing yards in a season remains the record and likely will for a while longer.

22,895 Career Receiving Yards

Jerry Rice is widely considered the greatest receiver ever. His combination of longevity and dominance has yielded a record that will likely never be broken: 22,895 career receiving yards.

1,964 Receiving Yards in a Season

Calvin Johnson was a monster, and he reached his pinnacle in 2012 when he set the single-season record for receiving yards. It was a one-of-a-kind season, considering he did it in 16 games.

23 Receiving Touchdowns in a Season

The 2007 Patriots romped through the regular season. Brady won MVP, but the long-standing record from that year will be Randy Moss’ 23 receiving touchdowns, the most in a season.

14 Interceptions in a Season

Dick “Night-Train” Lane arrived ready in his rookie season. He snagged 14 interceptions in his first year, which remains the NFL record.

4 Straight Super Bowl Losses

From 1990-93, the Buffalo Bills made four straight Super Bowls, an impressive feat. They also lost all four of those games, making this a disappointing record to hold.

366 Interceptions Thrown

Brett Favre’s longevity served him well on his iron man streak but poorly here. He holds the record for career interceptions thrown.

Undefeated Season and Playoffs

Some have come close, but no other teams than the 1972 Miami Dolphins have had both an undefeated regular season and playoff run combined.

Eight Interceptions Thrown in One Game

Turnovers are back-breakers for a team, so a quarterback throwing eight is never a good sign. However, that’s exactly what Jim Hardy did in 1950 for the Cardinals.

21 Catches in One Game

Brandon Marshall compiled a month’s worth of catches in one game, racking up 21 receptions in a single game against the Colts in 2009.

20 Solo Tackles in One Game

Stopping an NFL ball-carrier by yourself once is no easy task, but 20 times in a game? All the more difficult. In 2007, the Jets linebacker had 20 solo tackles against Washington.

20 Years in a Row with a Winning Record

The Cowboys’ reputation as America’s team stems from a winning legacy, and they lived up to that from 1966-85. The Cowboys had 20 seasons in a row with a winning record, setting the NFL record.

23 Straight Regular Season Wins

When Peyton Manning was quarterback for the Colts, the team dominated. That was best shown when his team rattled off an incredible 23-straight regular season wins, starting with 9 in a row in the 2008 season and then 14 in a row in 2009.
