Former standout football player Jovontay Williams of Johnson C. Smith was just 32 years old when he died in police custody last week.
According to reports, police came across the former star football player after responding to multiple reports of shots being fired in a North Carolina neighborhood.
The police reported that Williams was acting erratically, and was behind a house. The police said they took him to the hospital because of his mental state. Hours later in police custody at the hospital, the former football star died while in the care of the medical staff.
His mother has been demanding to see the body, that is the simple request she has had for the Charlotte PD, but she has been denied so far.
Williams leaves behind a three year old son, who has already been asking about his father.
I do not know what happened that night, but I hope for the family they get some answers very soon. As for the little man we are praying for him as well. If you would like to donate to their Go Fund Me a page has been set up.
