How do you prepare for games?

I take pride in watching film. I’ll rewatch it over and over throughout the whole week and even bouncing some ideas off of my position coach.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Jalen Ramsey hands down. In my opinion we have similar play styles and confidence in our games. So I’d love to sit down and pick his brain just about things he’s seen at the next level.

What sets you apart from other defensive backs?

Consistency. I think that’s what separates good from great. And I pride myself on being the most consistent player I can be. I also feel I can matchup really well with bigger wideouts and tight ends.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I think I was always interested in playing football and growing up I decided to use it as an opportunity to express the emotions that I couldn’t and in those moments my love for it grew more and more.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Honestly I’d have to say our overnight games in college. There’s nothing like traveling with your closest friends to places we never been and then going and winning. Those are moments you just have to be there for.

What should we know about Anthony Merriman III the person?

My brother and sister are my world. I go so hard because I want them to be proud of me. I also feel I am a natural born leader who’s driven with goals, and I’m dedicated to getting better everyday. As far as my brother and sister I’ll do anything to put a smile on their face.

What is your favorite coverage and why?

I enjoy cover 1 and cover 3 mostly. I like man coverage and being down to come down and press if I have to. And I also like playing the deep middle and reading the quarterback.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

I’d probably say John Thompson. He played really well last year and I feel he was snubbed out of All Conference, but he works hard so I’d definitely give him that.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

In life I think I try to work on whatever it is and with whoever I have. I’m a person that’s all about getting the job done so I look at it like that. “What do I need to do to get it done?” And on the field we handle business head on, bringing it every time I step out there. I’m here to dominate.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A baller. Teams are getting a baller. I’m also a great leader with good communication skills. They would be getting someone who’s happy to learn and contribute to their team.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I want that conference championship, I want a ring, and I’m just looking to go out with a bang for my last season.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I’m the hype teammate. I bring the energy and try to be the person that the teams feeds off of. We loud, we aggressive, we what I call “turnt”.
