Former Cincinnati Bengals football player Rey Maualuga plead guilty to 2 felony DUI charges from his crash.

He will not have to spend anymore time behind bars though. Maualuga entered into a pre-trial diversion program. That is a good deal for him if he can stay out of trouble. Maualuga’s charges could be dropped in five years if he stays out of trouble.

He was facing 10 years in prison, and now he is basically a free man and all charges could be dropped if he keeps clean.

Rey spent 120 days in jail after his arrest and completed an in-patient substance abuse program, and was also a huge reason why he was given the pre-trial diversion program.

Maualuga was a star linebacker in the NFL from 2009 to 2017 — compiling more than 600 tackles in his career, it is sad, but he was lucky on this one.
