The Carolina Panthers have one pick in the top 137 picks in the NFL Draft. Everyone knows the Carolina Panthers need a franchise quarterback and they have visited with every quarterback in the NFL Draft. Well, even if they get a starting quarterback with the sixth overall pick they would be reaching. I know the Panthers owner would like to add a quarterback bad, but the Panthers should seriously move back to pick up more picks. Hear me out for a minute.
The Panthers have pick 6, Pick 137, 144, 149, 199 and 242 in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.
There have been rumors that the Panthers have shown interest in both Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo. The problem is the Panthers have their back against a wall so to speak. They would like to add a veteran but they cannot afford to pay him the money. I am sure both the Browns and 49ers would be willing to pay some of the quarterbacks money to get rid of them, but the problem is the Panthers are paying Sam Darnold a ton of money. So this does not really work.
But their are other teams who would love to come up to the top 10 and land a star football player. The cornerback market is very thin in this draft and there are several teams that could absolutely use a cornerback like Sauce Gardner or Derek Stingley Jr. Add in the fact that there are some incredible offensive tackles in the draft and everyone could use a solid tackle. So can the Panthers find a team in the middle of the draft class to move back with to add some extra picks? I think they can, and I think that team will be the Eagles.
The Eagles have the 15th and 18th pick in the first round and a total of 10 picks. So here is my best best for Howie Roseman and the Eagles, and Scott Fitterer of the Panthers.
The Eagles send the 15th pick, the 83rd pick, and the 154th pick to the Panthers for the Panthers 6th overall pick.
That is no where near the amount it would take to usually move up but the Panthers back is against the wall right now. Howie jumps up to the top 10 and keeps his 18th overall pick. The Panthers gain three more picks and 3 in the top 154 giving them six picks now in the top 154. That is a lot better than they previously had.
The Panthers can then take their quarterback whose salary will be slightly less expensive than a top 5 pick, they can add some quality players in the draft around him and help him succeed. What do you think happens?
The Panthers have a quarterback visiting today, according to Ian Rapoport and he will be there at pick 15…..
