
Dion Ford the former Central High School dual sport athlete was shot and killed trying to protect himself during a robbery.
According to reports, the 6’4 athlete was killed outside a convenience store in St. Paul Thursday night.
Ford who was a star basketball player and standout football player was robbed when he pulled a gun and shot his aggressor, who then retailiated and shot Ford killing him.
The aggressor was immediately rushed to the hospital to undergo surgery, but Ford himself did not make it.
Ford went on to play college basketball for Casper College in Wyoming for the 2020-21 season, where he averaged about 9 points per game while starting 11 of 18 games.
Ford was a 1,000-point scorer at Central High School and helped lead the 2018-19 team to 22 victories, finishing two wins shy of the state tournament.
