Which Teams are Expected to Have the Best Draft Picks For Next Season?

Will Michigan pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson be the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft?

In the NFL draft, 2022’s main theme seems to be defense, defense, defense. Pass rushers like Aiden Hutchinson from Michigan and Kayvon Thibodeaux from Oregon are defenders that could set the foundation for teams wanting to acquire defensive players.

In terms of teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars have picked No. 1, the Detroit Lions No.2. Two New York teams, the Giants (after trading with Chicago) and the Jets (after trading with Seattle) have two picks in the top 10, while the Giants have 5 and 7 and the Jets have 4 and 10.

The first, second and third round of the NFL draft 2022 is set to take place on 28 April and April 29, with rounds 4-7 happening on 30 April. It will be held in Nevada at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise.

Let’s take a look at the top ten team picks.

10. New York Jets (7-10)

The reason for this pick is because, in 2020, the Jets traded Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks and chose quarterback Zach Wilson from Brigham Young University – the highest-drafted QB since 1965. The hope is this will stop their losing streak and stabilize their quarterback issues that have plagued the team for so long.

The Jamal Adams trade meant the Jets got a deal that gave them two first-round selections, so they also picked guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

9. Denver Broncos (7-10)

The biggest draft question facing GM George Paton revolves around quarterbacks – is he going to try at trade or sign for a more experienced QB?

April’s draft sees the team with a total of 11 picks – five of which belong to the top 100. Paton has always said he would prefer more picks as opposed to less, so if he wants a first-class quarterback, he may choose the route of trading many first-round picks for it.

8. Atlanta Falcons (7-10)

This is a team that needs to figure out almost everything – from the future of the quarterback position to the long snapper -although it would be unwise to use a draft pick on a long snapper.

Both coach Arthur Smith and GM Terry Fontenot have constructed the roster in such a way that draft value should match with need – an interesting place for the team to be.

7. New York Giants (6-11)

The Bears’ trade up in 2021 for Quarterback Justin Fields is the reason for this pick. In the 2022 draft, the team got receiver Kadarius Toney (No.20 pick) as well as first and fourth rounds.

6. Carolina Panthers (5-12)

The team gave up their second and third-round selections for quarterback Sam Darnold and cornerback CJ Henderson – but that means they have only a select amount of high draft picks and still a lot of needs to fulfil.

What remains to be seen is whether they will start to rebuild the offensive line with just a few sound starters, or whether they will choose a QB in an ever-thinning class.

The Top Five Picks

The top five picks for the NFL 2022 draft are as follows:

The New York Giants (4-13), the New York Jets (4-13), the Houston Texans (4-13), the Detroit Lions (3-13-1) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-14).

Except for the positions of cornerback and quarterback, the Jaguars need quite a few other positions- linebacker, pass-rusher, tight-end and wide receiver and offensive tackle. Their No.1 pick should be their choice of pass-rusher and they should go heavy on offense, especially if they are constructing the team around Trevor Lawrence.

Super Bowl Lines and Odds 2023

The Super Bowl LVI is over, with the Los Angeles Rams reigning supreme. However, as quickly as this year’s game is over, it’s already time to look at next year’s odds for each team.

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are tied as the favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl, with odds of +75.

In third place are the Rams (+1100), followed closely by the Cincinnati Bengals (+1200). They are tied with the Dallas Cowboys.
