The matchup of the ages: Jalen Ramsey and Ja’Marr Chase

By: Drakar Harvell

Super Bowl LVI will be filled with a lot of star power and key matchups. The biggest matchup that has been talked about all week is between All-Pros Ja’Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey.

Ja’Marr Chase is coming off a stellar rookie season as he racked up 81 receptions for 1,455 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. He was awarded the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Jalen Ramsey is coming off another All-Pro season as he was selected to his 5th straight Pro Bowl. Ramsey racked up 77 tackles, 16 pass deflections, 4ints, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. He displayed physicality and showed that he can take out a team’s number one receiver. In the playoffs, he helped cover Mike Evans, George Kittle, and Deebo Samuel.

This matchup will be one for the ages. Both players are extremely talented and have unique skill sets that make them one of the top players at each of their positions. Ja’Marr Chase has 4.4 speed, strong hands, and has extraordinary route running skills. In the AFC Championship game, he was only limited to a quiet 6 receptions for 54 yards, but did score a key touchdown that tied the score at 21 in the 4th quarter.

Even though Chase is a rookie, he played like a polished veteran. In the biggest game of the year, he will have to put on a show against arguably the best corner in the NFL.

The Rams like using Ramsey in the slot because it keeps him close to the action and allows him to make plays. He is a good tackler and has tremendous ball skills. He also will lay the big hit and cause a turnover whenever the game is on the line. Both players are looking forward to the matchup as it will be something everybody will be tuned into.

The Bengals will have to get the ball to Chase frequently and be able to move him around in different spots. Jalen Ramsey will probably be shadowing Chase all game, which means other receivers such as Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd have to put up big numbers so that the Bengals can have a good shot at winning this ball game.

This matchup between Chase and Ramsey will be one of the most exciting matchups we have ever seen in the history of the Super Bowl.
