What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I honestly just loved the game playing as a kid and when I started playing organized football I fell in love with it even more and the team aspect of it made me fall in love with it even more.

If there was a billboard with 5 of your traits on it which 5 traits would be up there?

Smart, hardworking, coachable, a leader and tenacious.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

One of the couple things at Eastern even when I was committed they didn’t go to bowl games since 1987 and I got to witness four bowl games. And another thing was I was first team academic all american which got announced in front of the entire team this year.

What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?

Me being a very smart player understanding and analyzing the scheme in film study and using it in game and another thing is I am comfortable playing both guard spots and center.

How are you planning to prepare for the draft?

I’m training in a facility called Michigan Elite Conditioning for Athletes and I’ve been training there and working with their nutritionists and I also got a chance to play at the Tropical Bowl in Orlando,FL earlier this month.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Joe Thomas, because he was able to be so dominant and play for so long and I would love to pick his brain about that kind of stuff. And also offensive linemen are a different breed and it would be cool to hang out with another offensive linemen like him.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I think I can bring alot of energy that is a confident energy and knowing I’ve done everything to prepare and I’m ready and confident to be out there and a little hyped up.

What should we know about Mike VanHoeven the person?

Just that whatever team that takes a chance on me, I will work my butt off and do whatever the team needs me to do.

What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Preparation in practice and film, confidence, and getting out there and wanting to do it.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Just someone who is going to work absolutely hard and give it 100 percent.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I think sometimes you have to take a step back and take a deep breath and knowing what you are facing and make a plan of what to do and have confidence in beating that challenge.

What do you love about the game of football?

Just the team aspect of you and a bunch of guys working towards a common goal and working to achieve that goal.
